Uddhav Kund

🌊 Uddhav Kund

📍 Location

Uddhav Kund is located near Govardhan Hill in Govardhan town, district Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India.

It lies on the sacred Govardhan Parikrama Marg and is a peaceful spiritual spot in Braj.

📖 Historical & Spiritual Background

Uddhav Kund is connected with the divine pastime of Uddhav, the close friend and disciple of Lord Krishna.

According to the Bhagavata Purana:

  • When Krishna moved to Mathura, the gopis of Vrindavan were deeply separated from Him.

  • Krishna sent Uddhav to Vrindavan to deliver His message.

  • Uddhav tried to give spiritual knowledge to the gopis.

  • But after witnessing the pure love (Prema Bhakti) of the gopis, Uddhav became humbled.

  • He prayed to be born as a shrub or grass in Braj to receive the dust of the gopis’ feet.

It is believed that Uddhav performed meditation and stayed at this place, which became known as Uddhav Kund.
